Vendors plying their trade in the vicinity of Independence Square this coming Sunday afternoon (November 23) for the duration of the National Independence Service will be restricted to Lower Bay Street, next to the BTI car park, and Cavans Lane.

According to a spokesman for the Royal Barbados Police Force, “no vending will be permitted within close proximity of the Square, and the use of generators is prohibited”.

Vendors must be in possession of the appropriate health certificate which should be obtained from their doctor; and the necessary temporary restaurant licence for the particular event from the Winston Scott Polyclinic.

Government’s Environmental Health Department has advised these persons to “ensure that they keep their vending areas clean, observe good hygienic standards and remove all garbage before they leave the site”.
