Some outstanding Barbadian sports persons who excelled in 2010 will be rewarded by the National Sports Council (NSC) this weekend during its Annual Awards Ceremony at the Frank Collymore Hall.

Renewing the Quest for Excellence is the theme of the celebrations, which will be held on Saturday, January 29, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Former World 200 metres Champion, Frankie Fredericks of Namibia, will deliver the feature address, while Minister of Sports, Stephen Lashley, will give an address.

There will be 62 awardees on the night. Some of the prizes to be presented will include Coach of the Year, Family Award, School Award, The Alvin Burgess Award, the Emerging Athlete Award and the Minister’s Award.

Outstanding squash player, Karen Meakins, who captured the Sports Personality title for 2010, will also receive her awards.??saustin@barbados.gov.bb
