The 5th annual Love, Poetry and Song (LPS) charity concert will be launched this Saturday, January 30, at Almond Bay, Hastings, Christ Church, at 2:00 p.m.

Organised by the HIV Education Committee of the Barbados Government Information Service, the concert is held each year to raise funds and collect non-perishable food products and toiletry items for the HIV Food Bank.

The concert is also used as a form of edutainment to sensitise persons about HIV and AIDS, as well as sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Speakers at the launch will include Social Worker, Counsellor and HIV Communications Expert, Alexis Nurse; Chairman of the Internal HIV Education Committee of the Barbados Government Information Service, Lisa Bayley; as well as artistes performing at this year???s show.

Following the launch, the committee will host a Men???s Tek Care of Yuhself workshop at the same location. Commencing at 3:00 p.m., the major topic on the agenda is: Why Barbadian men are more at risk to contracting HIV and AIDS. The other issues to be discussed are rise of STIs in Barbados, parenting, financial management and emotional intelligence.

Facilitators at the session will be Alexis Nurse, Principal Consultant and Family counsellor at Serenity Empowerment Services, Derek Ward; Managing Director of Astrape Finance, Melinda Belle; and personal development specialist, Tony Olton.
