Issues relating to African Philosophy, Children and Community will be explored tomorrow, Saturday, September 10, during a lunchtime lecture to be given by the Head of the Philosophy Department at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus, Professor Frederick Ochieng-Odihambo.

It will be hosted by the Commission for Pan African Affairs at the Bruce St. John Conference Room, Faculty of Humanities, UWI, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for those teachers involved in the Commission’s Mabalozi Programme.

Giving the background to the lecture, an official at the Commission said the Mabalozi had expressed an??interest??in becoming familiar with the African philosophical approach to disciplining children. She added that such continuous training and opportunities for discussion among the Mabalozi would assist in building children’s self-esteem and inspire positive??behaviour.??
