Bahamian students at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus, were recently presented with a donation from students, staff and the Parent Teacher Association of the Luther Thorne Memorial School.

The presentation was made to the UWI-Cave Hill Bahamas Student Association, as part of the school’s Bahamas Relief Collection Drive.

The school had originally planned to collect and ship non-perishable food items to the Bahamas, following the passage of Hurricane Dorian.

However, the focus shifted as the needs of Bahamian students at Cave Hill came into sharper focus.  There are more than 70 Bahamian students at the campus.

Luther Thorne Primary students were asked to bring donations such as toiletries, cleaning and laundry products and other household items.

Additionally, the student-to-student initiative was boosted by the contributions of teachers and parents.
