New Chief Education Officer, Laurie King (FP)

A number of persons have been appointed on promotion to top positions within the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development.

Former Deputy Chief Education Officer, Laurie King, was recently appointed to the post of Chief Education Officer. Mr. King’s appointment took effect from January 1, 2012.

The Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic also has a new head, with the appointment of former Deputy Principal, Hector Belle, to the post of Principal. His appointment also took effect from January 1, this year.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Barbara Parris is now the Principal of the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College. She was retroactively appointed from the time she began acting in that position.

Also receiving a promotion was former Assistant Chief Audio Visual Aids Officer, Walter Harper. He was appointed to the post of Chief Audio Visual Aids Officer in the Media Resource Department on June 1, 2011.
