Some 132 males are expected to leave these shores shortly for the United States of America (USA) in order to participate in that country’s H2A Agricultural Programme.

The labourers, who all have experience working in agriculture, will be given temporary contracts to assist on farms, harvesting vegetables and picking apples.

Recruitment of these persons was facilitated by the National Employment Bureau (NEB), which arranged interviews for them with representatives from the Florida East Coast Travel Services Inc. (FLECTS).

According to the FLECTS representatives Joseph Hobbs and Perry Wells, they were pleased with the persons selected and anticipated that the first batch of workers would be able to travel to the USA by the end of June this year.?? They added that they would soon repeat the recruitment exercise.

Males between the ages of 21 and 50 who are interested in working in the H2A Agricultural Programme are invited to contact the NEB as soon as possible at telephone numbers 427-4326, 426-4450 or 426-1611. Persons may also visit the NEB’s office located in the NIS Building, Fairchild Street, Bridgetown to register.?? (KRM/BGIS)
