As part of activities to celebrate Tsunami and Earthquake Smart Month, tomorrow, Friday, March 18, has been designated National Preparedness Day.

Barbadians are therefore being encouraged to participate by starting their own family or business disaster plan; reading up and being informed on tsunamis and earthquakes; as well as practising how to ???drop, cover and hold on??? for an earthquake.

Persons may also upload an image to their website, Facebook or Instagram account, as well as tweet or share on a blog.

Additionally, they can email the Department of Emergency Management at deminfo@barbados.gov.bb, or ksabir@coastal.gov.bb, to share and discuss their experiences.

The aim of Tsunami and Earthquake Smart Month is to promote awareness of these hazards, as well as to highlight how the risks associated with them can be mitigated.
