The issues with which Persons with Disabilities are faced will be in the spotlight during the month of March as Barbados celebrates the Month of the Disabled.

Under the theme Mobilising, Embracing, Empowering Persons with Disabilities, the National Disabilities Unit (NDU) has organised various activities to rally support and to bring greater awareness to the rights of this sector of our population.

There will then be a church service on Sunday, March 9, at the Abundant Life Assembly, Bank Hall, St. Michael, beginning at 8:00 a.m., where Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development, Steve Blackett, will deliver remarks.

Additionally, the NDU will host Community Outreach Panel Discussions to sensitise the public about the needs and concerns of persons with disabilities. They will be held at the Alexandra School, Speightstown, St. Peter, on Thursday, March 13; St. John???s Primary School, Glebe Land, St. John, on Thursday, March 20; and the St. Michael???s School, Martindales Road, St. Michael.
