Twenty-three members of staff from the Markets Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management received just rewards for their hard work, dedication and years of service recently.

During a brief ceremony at the Ministry’s headquarters at Graeme Hall, Christ Church, the workers were officially presented with their instruments of appointment and promotion by Minister of Agriculture, Dr. David Estwick.

In congratulating the market staff, Dr. Estwick urged them to carry out their jobs to the best of their ability and with a high level of professionalism.

"You are serving your country…When you are carrying out a task do it the best you can. Put in an honest day’s work for a honest day’s pay," he said.

The Agriculture Minister also encouraged the workers to set an example for others and to ensure they were beyond reproach.

Manager, Markets, Henderson Greaves, also told the staff to continue their hard work and to lift the bar in terms of the service they offered to the public.

"In the public service there is this tendency as soon as someone is appointed to say ???I have made it’ …but I want to encourage you to continue your hard work.?? In Markets, we are a service provider… for the fishermen, vendors and those tenants who use the market… So, it means our deportment, attitude and dealings with the general public must be of the highest standard at all times," Mr. Greaves said.
