As part of the activities for crime awareness month, officers from the Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit (CJRPU) will be distributing face masks and testing the public’s knowledge about the criminal justice system at strategic locations across the island.

On Friday, November 20, the team will distribute masks at Emerald City, Six Roads, St. Philip, from 10:00 a.m. to noon and at Sheraton Mall from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

On Friday, November 27, officers from the CJRPU will be in the districts of New Orleans and Chapman Lane, St. Michael, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This year’s Crime Awareness Month, themed: The Criminal Justice Process and its Impact on You, culminates on Monday, November 30, Independence Day.

The objectives of the activities are to build awareness of criminal justice agencies; highlight the positive contribution of these agencies in the fight against crime; highlight and emphasise their work in the development of Barbados and discuss possible solutions to crime and violence in Barbados.
