New mothers who have exclusively breast fed babies for six months will be celebrated when the Maurice Byer Polyclinic hosts its annual social and graduation on Thursday, December 17.

They and their supportive partners will receive certificates of appreciation for attending pre and post-natal clinics and following the guidance of health care providers in caring for their infants.

The awardees are antenatal and post-natal clients who receive care at the Maurice Byer Polyclinic. Formally known as the "Breast Feeding Group", they meet every Monday, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., to discuss, among others, breast feeding, infant nutrition, health management and parenting. The sessions provide a support system for expectant, post natal clients, and families with young children.

The annual social and graduation will be held at the Maurice Byer Polyclinic, Station Hill, St. Peter, from 2:30 p.m. It will be addressed by Acting Principal of the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, Dr. Patricia Saul.

Dr. Saul’s presentation will consider "What is Literacy?" and "The Role of Parents and Caregivers in Developing Literacy in Young Children".
