Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean, has lauded the work of the Honorary Councils who represent various countries in Barbados.

Speaking at the recent Christmas cocktail reception of the Consular Corps of Barbados held at the Fusion Restaurant and Lounge, Minister McClean cited the Councils’ role as critical to maintaining and developing relations between this island and other nations.??

"You play a critical role in representing your respective countries in Barbados.?? I believe the name and reputation of the countries you represent are made even greater by your commitments, because, in fact, you are essentially volunteering your time to the interest of the several countries you represent," Senator McClean said.

Thanking the Consuls for their contribution, she added, "the work that you do on a day-to-day basis really enhances that of the diplomatic corps."

Minister McClean also wished the outgoing Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Hughland Allman, the best in his new position as Deputy Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of Barbados to the United Nations Office and other International Organisations at Geneva, Switzerland, and welcomed the incoming Chief of Protocol, Phillip St. Hill.??
