Close to 50 stakeholders of the Ministry of Family, Culture, Sports and Youth will soon get an opportunity to make suggestions on the types of interventions needed to counteract crime and deviance among this island’s youth.

To this end, the Ministry will be hosting a conference on Wednesday, February 16, at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, starting at 9:30 a.m. It is anticipated that the discussion generated from the meeting will assist the Ministry in formulating strategies to reduce the incidents of crime and deviancy.

Topics to be examined during the day include: Defining Crime and Deviance – Are We in Crisis?; Money = Drugs + Guns + Sex; Youth and Adults in Crime: Is there a Difference? and, Family, Our Culture, Our Values.

This meeting is a follow up to smaller ones previously held with key stakeholders to strategise on a way forward to counter, and where possible, eliminate the negative behaviours and actions of some of this island’s youth.??
