Mental Health Month will be observed worldwide during October and the Psychiatric Hospital has planned a number of activities during the month.
On Sunday, October 4, there will be a church service at Shalem???s Evangelical Church, Bush Hall Yard Gap, St. Michael, beginning at 10.00 a.m.
On Thursday, October 8, a cricket match will be held on the grounds of the Psychiatric Hospital, Black Rock, St. Michael, from 2:00 p.m.
The following day, Friday, October 9, it will be Open Day at the hospital, with a health fair in the main car park from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. At the fair, members of the public will be able to receive a number of health checks, including HIV testing, blood pressure checks, stress tests and PSA testing.
A fun walk is planned for Sunday, October 11, starting at 6:00 a.m. at the hospital and finishing at Brandon???s Beach, and Wednesday, October 14, is Staff Appreciation Day, when staff members will be treated to massages, hair braiding, facials, pedicures, manicures and much more.
The Patients??? Sports??? Day comes off on Thursday, October 15, at the hospital???s cricket grounds, starting at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends of the patients are invited to attend.??The activities end on Sunday, October 18, with a concert staged by the patients in the Nurses??? Lounge, starting at 3:00 p.m.
