A week of activities has been planned by the Outreach Committee of the Psychiatric Hospital to commemorate World Mental Health Day, October 10.

Under the theme "Mental Health and Chronic Physical Illnesses: The Need for Continued and Integrated Care", the week will be celebrated from Sunday, October 10, to Saturday, October 16.

Staff and caregivers will begin the week on Sunday, October 10, with divine worship at the Sanctuary Empowerment Centre (formerly Dove Conference Centre), at Country Road, St. Michael, at 10:00 a.m.??

The week will also see visits to primary schools on Tuesday, October 12, and Thursday, October 14, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Also, on Thursday, October 14, there will be a Patients and Family Fun Day at the hospital. This runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.??

Friday, October 15, will be Cricket Day. This will see senior staff competing against their youthful counterparts in a match, which begins at 2:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Psychiatric Hospital.

The curtain will come down on the activities on Saturday, October 16, when the institution holds a health fair at Heroes Square, the city from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.?? There will be free health checks, including blood sugar and blood pressure testing and short lectures on mental health and healthy eating and living.
