The Barbados Meteorological Office is again warning sea bathers and small craft operators to stay out of the sea as a result of high surf and dangerous rip currents along all coastlines across the island.

According to the Acting Deputy Director of the department, Hampden Lovell, this warning would remain in effect for the remainder of the week due to a further deterioration of large northerly swells which were expected to peak at about 15 feet (five meters).

He added: "These swells will generate very large breaking waves and dangerous rip currents along all coastlines of Barbados. All users of these coastlines are advised to exercise extreme caution and stay out of the water." Mr. Lovell also advised that a small-craft warning would remain in effect for above-normal sea-swells of up to five meters (15 feet). jwilson@barbados.gov.bb
