The Office of Public Counsel provides an invaluable service to the community.

This was underscored by newly appointed Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Senator Haynesley Benn, yesterday following a familiarisation tour of that department at Warrens, St. Michael.

During the visit, Senator Benn expressed full support for the important work of the Office of Public Counsel, in protecting and upholding the rights of consumers.

Public Counsel, Eli Edwards, and Supervisor of Insolvency, Dianna Greenidge, spoke about the vast extent of their work, which ranges from the handling of complaints, issuing of certificates of good standing, to managing bankruptcy claims.

The department is also responsible for the protection of the interests of domestic consumers of utility services.
