Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean, recently bid farewell to the United Nations Children’s Fund’s (UNICEF) Representative for the Eastern Caribbean, Khin-Sandi Lwin.

Ms. Lwin stated that she had a “rewarding six years in office” and hoped that during her tenure, UNICEF would have been responsive and understanding to Barbados’ needs. She also applauded this country’s progress in response to matters relating to child abuse.

Senator McClean thanked the out-going Representative for her work here, which she described as “critical” not only to Barbados but throughout the Eastern Caribbean.

As customary, Ms. Lwin also introduced the Foreign Minister to the new UNICEF Representative, Aloys Kamuragiye, who assumed office in September.
