Press briefing with Minister of Health and Wellness, Lieutenant Colonel The Most Honourable Jeffrey Bostic – Dec. 20th, 2021. (PMO)

With Christmas being just days away, Minister of Health and Wellness, Lieutenant Colonel The Most Honourable Jeffrey Bostic, is reminding Barbadians not to let their guard down because of declining COVID-19 numbers.

Speaking during a press conference this evening, the Minister said over the last several weeks health officials had not been releasing much information on the positivity rates, but instead focused on “saving lives and protecting people”.

He added: “But I don’t have to tell you that things have improved, and some people would say significantly.  We are now into the Christmas week.  And we know that people would want to enjoy themselves with their families and that is a good thing because the last two years have been very, very difficult for all of us….

“I just want to remind all of us that we need to enjoy ourselves; spend time with families, loved ones and friends, but operate within the protocols.  And remember that we are still in the midst of a pandemic.”

The Health Minister also reminded members of the public that they should continue to follow the protocols, which had served them well, and to continue practising safety measures not only for themselves but for their neighbours and those living in communities across the island.
