Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Senator Darcy Boyce, and a two-member delegation will leave the island today, Thursday, April 10, for the 2008 spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington, DC.

 

The two-day meeting, which commences tomorrow, Friday, April 11, will focus on several pertinent issues, including increasing oil prices, debt management, climate change and disaster mitigation.

 

The three-member team will then head to New York for a special high level meeting of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations on Monday, April 14.

 

The theme of that one-day meeting is: “Coherence, Coordination and Cooperation in the context of the Implementation of the Monterey Consensus, including new challenges and emerging issues.”

 

The other members of the delegation are Director of Finance and Economic Affairs, Grantley Smith; and Chief Economist in the Ministry of Finance, Patrick McCaskie.
