Despite economic challenges faced by some Barbadian businesses over the years, Oran Limited has stood the test of time.

Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, Donville Inniss, made these comments last Saturday night at the Crane Resort, St. Philip, as the company celebrated its 50th anniversary and Sheraton Centre???s 25-year milestone with a cocktail reception.

Mr. Inniss, who said it was refreshing that we could celebrate in Barbados such a success, told owner and founder of Oran Ltd., Marshall Oran, that he could have gone elsewhere in the world but opted to make Barbados his home.

???Through your business, other businesses have grown up and succeeded and what we see here before us are the different businesses which are all connected to the Oran family???

??????As a manufacturing enterprise, I think Oran is one we must really celebrate, as it has brought to the fore a level of innovation and creativity that must be lauded in Barbados???I have always contended that one of the successes that we have had this century is the fact that we have Barbadians who are very committed and very determined to succeed in their endeavours, wherever they work in the organisation???,??? the Minister underscored.

He further added that those who continued to think that manufacturing was dead just had to look at Oran, as that company was a reflection of what manufacturing was all about.

???The Government stands side by side with you as they do with other manufacturers to bring a high level of innovation to the industry, and to also help find traditional markets to get it going???,??? he said.
