Barbados will be represented at the Sixth Summit of African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Heads of State and Government in Accra, Ghana from October 2 to 3.  

Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and International Business, Donville Inniss, will first attend the ACP Council of Ministers on Tuesday, September 30, and then a joint meeting of ACP Ministers of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, October 1.

The ACP Summit is held biennially, and this year’s theme is Promoting Human Security and Development. 

The Ministers are expected to focus their deliberations on issues relating to human security and human development, a mid-term review of the millennium development goals, and the rise in food prices and its effect on the development of ACP States. They will also discuss matters pertaining to energy, the economic partnership agreement with the European Union and the future of the ACP Group.
