Minister of Youth, Stephen Lashley, will soon see for himself what the children are doing in this year’s National Summer Camp Programme when he visits four camps.

His touring party will leave the Ministry of Youth, Family and Sports at Constitution Road, St. Michael, this Friday, July 16, at 9:00 a.m. and travel to Hindsbury Primary School, St. Michael; Melbourne Cricket Club, St. James; Ellerton Special Unit, St. George; and Foundation School, Christ Church.

During the tours, the officials will get an opportunity to see the campers engaging in craft, sports and cultural activities, and they will also get the chance to speak to the children and personnel working with the camps.

About 9000 children are attending the 63 camps, which started on Monday, July 5, and will end on Friday, August 13. They are being held at schools, recreational centres and churches across the island.

Camp Directors and their assistants met last weekend and are expected to continue meeting every Saturday with officials from the Ministry of Youth to review and plan for the upcoming week. saustin@barbados.gov.bb
