The long-standing relationship between Brazil and Barbados has come in for high praise from this country???s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean.

The Minister commended the partnership between the two countries during a courtesy call with Brazil???s Ambassador to Barbados, Luiz Gilberto Seixas de Andrade, at the Ministry yesterday.

The two officials discussed a range of issues including the conclusion of a double taxation agreement, and the political and commercial mission to Brazil last September.

The Minister told the Ambassador that the mission went ???quite well??? and the private sector was pleased with the contacts they had made.

Senator McClean said the Brazilian officials were extremely helpful and willing to share information with the delegation.

???Some results have been coming out of the mission and we had delegations in manufacturing, the National Cultural Foundation and an independent group – music entrepreneurs. And I believe ??? a steel pannist has gone back and had contracts, and I think he is going to be involved in some event related to the World Cup,??? she added.

The officials also discussed other areas of technical and commercial cooperation.??Barbados and Brazil established diplomatic ties in 1971.
