Minister of Culture, Stephen Lashley, has congratulated Barbadian band Cover Drive for its success in shooting to the top of the United Kingdom charts with its latest single Twilight.

In a letter to the four-member band, Mr. Lashley said: "I would like, on behalf of the Government and people of Barbados, to offer you heartiest congratulations on your success to date. What you have been able to achieve in your young career is truly phenomenal. It is an achievement that has made Barbados proud and represents yet another high point in the cultural offerings of our country.

"What makes it even more remarkable is that this song was only released on January 22 and within a week it became number one on the UK charts. It is a clear reminder to all of us, especially our young people, that success comes with hard work and perseverance."

Mr. Lashley told the young people "we look forward with anticipation to even greater accomplishments as you blaze the trail of further developing the cultural sector here in Barbados".

Cover Drive is a four-member band comprising Amanda Reifer, T-Ray Armstrong, Barry ???Bar-Man’ Hill and Jamar Harding. The band was signed by Polydor Records and the members perform pop, rock and R&B.

This group joins a growing number of local artistes who have been making their mark on the international music scene.
