Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Christopher Sinckler, has described as ???informative and fruitful??? the three-hour discussions he had Thursday evening with the Barbados Private Sector Association, the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association.

Mr. Sinckler met with officials from those agencies, as well as the Acting Director of Finance, Dr. Louis Woodroffe, and Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Nancy Headley, at Government Headquarters.

He disclosed that they discussed matters pertaining to the economy and the initiatives in this year???s Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposals. The stakeholders were also updated on the measures set out in Government???s fiscal adjustment programme.

Mr. Sinckler said the officials expressed a desire to see the adjustment programme fully implemented, and both sides agreed to work towards ensuring that each initiative becomes a reality.

Government outlined a number of incentives in this year???s budgetary proposals aimed at assisting the hotel industry and the business community, as well as to help to grow Barbados??? economy.
