Minister of Health and Wellness, Lt. Col. Hon. Jeffrey Bostic. (FP)

Minister of Health and Wellness, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Bostic’s response to an article published online, which inaccurately stated that travellers from medium-risk countries were being considered for quarantine.

“I understand that the article published has caused some of our prospective travellers unnecessary concern, and I want to assure them that the U.K., Canada and other medium-risk countries are not being considered for quarantine on arrival in Barbados. The Ministry of Health and Wellness is working closely with the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) on updating the country’s protocols for arriving passengers, and our priority continues to be the health and protection of the public.

“To this end, we will be releasing our revised protocols shortly. I know it is important for travellers to have a level of comfort and certainty in their plans, so I also want to assure them that there is always a grace period of 48 hours for new protocols to come into effect after they are introduced, to allow passengers time to make any adjustments if necessary.”
