BMEX 2019 has officially begun.

Minister of International Business and Industry, Ronald Toppin, along with President of the Barbados Manufacturers’ Association (BMA), Robert Noel, cut the ribbon today to open the exhibition, which will run until Monday, June 10.

Speaking with the media following the ribbon cutting ceremony, Executive Director of the BMA, Shardae Boyce, disclosed that BMEX 2019 has over 200 exhibitors, who have a wide variety of products and services on sale and display.

Ms. Boyce said that her association believed that it was beneficial to work with sectors outside of manufacturing.

She noted that BMEX 2019 had partnered with the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries to host the Creative Pavilion, an arts and entertainment zone.

The Barbados Investment and Development Corporation and the Caribbean Export Development Agency were also instrumental in bringing over 20 regional and international buyers who are scouting for local export-ready products and services to BMEX.

“We have the services sector fully on board and we believe that from a manufacturing perspective, it is important to work with sectors outside of manufacturing because of the linkage and the value that they add to the manufacturing sector,” Ms. Boyce reasoned.

Earlier this year at the launch of BMEX 2019, Minister Toppin described the annual exhibition as the “premier platform for the introduction of exciting new products to the market”.

He had also stated that BMEX provided local producers and service providers with an opportunity to interact with their publics, gain feedback, network, and be exposed to regional and international buyers.
