Self-harming Behaviours among Teenagers will come under the microscope when the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, in collaboration with the Barbados Association of Guidance Counsellors (BAGC), hosts a symposium, at month-end.

The symposium is being convened as a response to self-harming behaviours among the adolescent population and it is intended that at the end stakeholders would arrive at a unified statement on the problem.

It will be held on Friday May 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Savannah Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church.

The session targets personnel from the Ministry, all secondary school principals, guidance counsellors and other stakeholder groups. Key facilitators for the session include Psychiatrist and Consultant with the Pan-American Health Organization, Dr. Shirley Alleyne; Senior Psychologist in the Ministry of Education Ms. Juanita Brathwaite; and Director of the Child Care Board, Joan Crawford.
