The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy (MMABE) welcomes Eric Lewis as its new Senior Manager of Markets.

Mr. Lewis brings a wealth of experience to the post, having worked previously in the markets for 25 years before taking up the post of Economist in the Ministry of Agriculture. He held this position for six years before becoming Senior Economist there.

The Senior Manager has a degree in Management and Economics and will be examining the procedures and regulations for all fish markets, as well as reviewing the finance models with a view to improving efficiency. He will also be overseeing the operations of all fish markets in Barbados.

Minister of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy, Kirk Humphrey, said he appreciates the institutional strengthening within the Ministry and stated: “I welcome Mr. Lewis to the MMABE team as he certainly has the knowledge, experience and capacity to strengthen the work that has to be done in the markets for the improvement of the fisheries experience.”

He further stated: “Eric will help us complete the transformation and modernisation of the fish markets island wide and I am grateful that he agreed to work with us in this senior capacity.”

Eric Lewis’ duties officially commenced on Monday, March 1.
