The Economic Affairs Division of the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs and Investment, in its capacity as the National Liaison Office for the Organization of American States (OAS), has advised that there are several scholarships for which Barbadians could apply.

Persons who wish to benefit from these opportunities and need to receive more information should visit http://www.oas.org/en/scholarships/​. 

Scholarships are also being offered by the International Trade Centre of the International Labour Organization for Masters in the areas of World Heritage and Cultural Projects for Development; Management of Development; Applied Labour Economics for Development; and Social Innovation for Development.

The programmes, which will be delivered in English, are 12 months in duration, and are offered online with an onsite component between 12 and 18 weeks.  Part of the tuition fees and health insurance will be covered.  The deadline for application for these scholarships is June 1, 2019. 

The Colorado State University in the United States of America (USA) is also offering scholarships in Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programmes in several areas of study, excluding the Global Social and Sustainable Enterprise MBA.

The duration depends on the length of the studies, and classes will take place onsite in the USA. Part of the tuition fees and a waiver of application fees will be covered by the scholarship.  Applications for the fall semester must be submitted by June 15, 2019, or by October 1, 2019 for the Spring Semester.

Scholarships are also available for the Master of Science in Urban Management and Development offered by the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, at the University Institute of Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands.  The deadline for applications is June 5, 2019.

At the same university, scholarships are also being offered by the International Institute of Social Studies in the Master of Arts in Development Studies in the following areas: Agrarian, Food and Environmental Studies, Economics of Development, Government and Development Policy, Social Policy for Development and Human Rights, Gender and Conflict Studies: Social Justice Perspectives.

The programmes will run for 16 months onsite, and will be taught in English.  A portion of the tuition fees is covered by the scholarship. 

Applications must be submitted by June 1, 2019. Interested persons may also apply for scholarships in the online Master of Science in Public Health Nutrition by the University of Technology in Jamaica. 

A part of the programme fees will be covered for the 18-month programme. The deadline for applications is June 1, 2019.
