The Ministry of Agriculture’s Entomology Section is again making an appeal to members of the public and business persons to join in the fight against the Giant African Snail.

They may do so by donating old or unwanted wooden pallets to the section. The pallets are used to burn the collected snails on a daily basis.

Between the start of the Ministry’s Giant African Snail Bounty Programme in March 2009 until the end of April 2012, some 358 tonnes or in excess of 11 million snails were received and burnt.

To donate, the pallets or for further information, persons may contact the Entomology Section at 434-5103/5106, or 310-2821, or the Ministry of Agriculture at 434-5000.
