Barbadians will be treated to a series of town hall meetings with a difference over the next few months, through an initiative of the Ministry of Commerce in collaboration with the Information Society of Barbados (ISB).

The two entities, in an effort to promote the use and application of information communication technologies (ICTs) as well as to help build an all-inclusive information society, will provide free internet access at all town hall meetings hosted during the period.

According to a senior official at the Ministry of Commerce, “a temporary internet connection will be made available so that persons who have never been exposed to the internet may use the facility during the presentation”.

More specifically, the town hall meetings will focus on the strategies which can be employed by business persons, to lever the virtues of ICTs to add value to their activities. “The general public will also be afforded the opportunity of learning how the use of ICTs can significantly improve their quality of living,” the official said.

The first town hall meeting will take place at Princess Margaret School on Tuesday, December 12 between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Additional information may be obtained from the Ministry of Commerce, Consumer Affairs and Business Development at telephone number 427-5270.
