The Ministry of Commerce, Consumer Affairs and Business Development, along with the Information Society of Barbados (ISB), will on Tuesday, January 16, take its current campaign focusing on Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) to Queen’s College.
The second in a series of town hall meetings, it will commence at 7:00 p.m. and run until about 10:00 p.m.
The ISB and the Ministry, in an effort to promote the use and application of (ICTs) as well as to help build an all-inclusive information society, will be providing free Internet access at all town hall meetings hosted.
A temporary Internet connection will be made available so that attendees who have never been exposed to the Internet may use the facility during the presentation.
More specifically, the series of town hall meetings will focus on the strategies which can be employed by business persons, to leverage the virtues of ICTs to add value to their activities.
An official with the Ministry of Commerce noted that: “The general public will also be afforded the opportunity of learning how the use of ICTs can significantly improve their quality of living.”
The first town hall meeting was held at the Princess Margaret School last month. Minster of Commerce, Consumer Affairs and Business Development, Senator Lynette Eastmond told the audience that Government was committed to ensuring that ICT was available to all Barbadians.
She noted that government was seeking to “make sure you can see and touch the equipment and recognise really that it is no more complex than most of the technology you have been dealing with all your life”.
