It is with a deep sense of regret that the Government of Barbados has learnt of the passing of Mr. John Licorish, Honorary Consul of Barbados in Boston.

Mr. Licorish served with distinction as Barbados’ Honorary Consul for nearly 18 years and was well loved and respected both within the Barbadian and wider community in Boston.

He will be remembered as a stalwart supporter of the National Association of Barbados Organisations, Inc. (NABO), having been associated with the organisation as a founding member from its inception and having served on its executive as a Vice-Chairman. He was at all times a force for stability in the organisation, with a wealth of knowledge on its history which served as the basis of consistently sound advice.

Mr. Licorish was also at the forefront in strengthening relations between Barbadians in the USA and Barbados’ Government offices in New York and other cities and was instrumental in organizing the Barbadian community. He will be sorely missed. Mr. Licorish leaves to mourn a son, John Jr. and a daughter, Grace.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean, has issued a letter of condolence to the family of the late John Licorish.
