The Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Barbados Prison Service were the beneficiaries yesterday of a significant donation of masks and gloves handed over by Rubis Caribbean.

The company’s Marketing Manager for the Eastern Caribbean, Andrea Gooding, said the donation comprised 2,000 KN95 masks, 2,000 surgical masks and 2,000 pairs of gloves, which will be used in the public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ms. Gooding said Rubis was committed to supporting all the countries in which it operated and similar donations were being made throughout the Eastern Caribbean.

“We understand the challenges associated with getting adequate supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and we are committed to assisting the Ministries of Health around the Caribbean,” she stated.

Accepting the donation on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Wellness was Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Anton Best, while Superintendent of Prisons, Lt. Col. John Nurse, represented the Barbados Prison Service. They both expressed gratitude to the company for the supplies.
