Golden Square Freedom Park in Bridgetown will be the venue for the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment’s community outreach on Saturday, July 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (FP)

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment will be moving its offices to Golden Square Freedom Park, Bridgetown, this Saturday, July, 2, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

All sections of the Ministry will be represented at Golden Square in what promises to be an interactive day, filled with public engagements, opportunities to learn about and register for one of the many programmes and activities as well as hear from graduates and clients. 

Guests will see the results of performing arts programmes through performances by youth from various communities, in spoken word, song, tuk band, stilt walking and anti-violence chants. Precision drill by the Barbados YouthADVANCE Corps will be on display as well as exhibition road tennis and martial arts matches.

Visitors to the Ministry’s outreach will also get the opportunity to see live, recently crowned Baje to the World winner, Tarique O’Neal Baje, and other outstanding young persons who were able to discover and hone their skills and talent through programmes.

Ministry youth partnerships and support for youth advocacy will also be highlighted through the participation of UReport Barbados, a Division of Youth Affairs/UNICEF partnership, who will be conducting polls and sharing the work of the Youth Arm of the Obesity Prevention Coalition.

The Ministry’s suite of services is delivered through the Community Development Department, the National Sports Council, the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat and the Division of Youth Affairs’ sub-programmes: Barbados YouthADVANCE Corps, Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme, Youth Development Programme, Pathways Employability Programme, Next Steps Training Initiative, National Summer Camps, and Youth Achieving Results.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Charles Griffith, will join his team for a tour of the Bridgetown event at 11:30 a.m.
