In an effort to enhance its client communication, the Ministry of Agriculture will soon be upgrading its website.

According to Agricultural Officer – with responsibility for the Ministry’s Agricultural Information Services (AIS) Unit, Mark Byer, "plans have been ongoing to revamp the seven-year website, and eventually launch the new and improved site next month. Not to mention take it to another level, and by that making it more user friendly."

In explaining the upgrading process, Network Administrator in the AIS Unit, Samuel Inniss, noted that they were really looking to improve the area of services, as it was important for persons using the site to also know about the various departments that fell under the Ministry.

"This website is a tool to learn more about the Ministry. You do not have to come in [to the Ministry] but you can go on the site and access the relevant information. We want this website to surpass people’s expectations," Mr. Inniss stressed.

Describing the implementation process, the Network Administrator pointed out that a team from the Ministry (Agriculture) met with representatives from the Data Processing Department, the Office of Public Sector Reform and the Government Information Service, as these departments have lead responsibility for the monitoring and evaluation of the websites of Government’s Ministries, Departments and agencies.

"As we try to improve this website, we want to bring everyone on board as we are not only seeking to improve the site but also to enhance the communication between the Ministry and the various departments as well," Mr. Inniss added.
