Barbadian women now have another avenue to obtain information on breast health and be examined, as the Mobile Breast Health Clinic moves around the island.

The clinic will offer manual breast examinations by a qualified registered nurse, instruction on self-examinations, counseling and referrals for further investigation, when necessary.

The mobile unit will be stationed at the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation in the Pine, St. Michael on Monday, March 14; Roberts Manufacturing Company Limited, Lower Estate, St. Michael on Wednesday, March 16; and Simpson Motors, Warrens, St. Michael on Thursday, March 17.?? The clinic will be in operation from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and a nominal fee will be charged.????????

Approximately 150 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in Barbados in 2009.?? It is the most common cause of death of all cancers, in Barbadian women, with approximately 50 women dying from the illness in Barbados each year. However, premature death can be reduced through early detection.
