Public servants will now be paid this coming Monday, December 21, and not on Friday, December 18, as was previously publicised.

This was revealed today by the Accountant General, Ms. Margaret Sivers, who acknowledged that an error was made in the printing of the list of pay days for 2009. She explained that initially December’s pay day was set as the 19th, but since that day fell on a Saturday, it was decided to bring it forward to Friday, December 18.

Ms. Sivers noted, however, that under the Financial Management and Audit Act, Cap.5 Section 2A, payment of public sector salaries must be made after the 18th day of each month. ??She has apologised for any inconvenience this delay might cause.
