Prime Minister Freundel Stuart

When Members of Parliament meet tomorrow, Tuesday, January 24, they are expected to debate a number of money resolutions.

Leader of Government Business and Minister of Transport and Works, John Boyce, is expected to ask that the House of Assembly resolve itself into a Committee of Supply to consider two items.

The first Resolution stands in the name of Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and seeks to take $1, 421, 609 from the Consolidated Fund and have it placed at the disposal of Government to supplement the Estimates 2011-2012. In addition, Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs, Adriel Brathwaite, will also move to have $5, 566,041 taken from the Consolidated Fund and have it placed in the Estimates 2011-2012.

Meanwhile, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Chris Sinckler, is scheduled to have approved the guarantee of $160 million to be raised by the Barbados National Oil Company through the issue and sale of fixed and floating rate bonds from the Barbados National Bank Finance and Trust Corp.

The first Readings of bills are also included in this week’s Order Paper. They include the Holidays with Pay Bill and the Employment Rights Bill 2012, to be piloted by Minister of Labour Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo; while Minister of International Business and International Transport, George Hutson will table the Restricted Liability (Amendment) Bill, 2012.
