A series of movie nights and a grand outing slated for the National Botanical Gardens are among the activities being held to mark the Month of the Disabled which starts today, Tuesday, March 1, and ends on Thursday, March 31.

Under the theme Inclusion: Living Without Limits, the National Disabilities Unit (NDU), in collaboration with the Barbados Council for the Disabled, will host the activities designed to raise awareness about the issues of persons with disabilities.

The movies nights will take place every Saturday, beginning on March 5, and continuing on March 12, 19 and 26, at 6:30 p.m. on the NDU’s Collymore Rock, St. Michael grounds.

On Sunday, March 6, members of the disabled community and the public are invited to attend a hybrid Multi-Faith Church Service at the Ebenezer Seventh Day Adventist Church, Eden Lodge, St. Michael, beginning at 4:00 p.m.  The Zoom link for this service will be posted closer to the date.

The grand outing for persons with disabilities will come off on Sunday, March 13, at the National Botanical Gardens, Codrington, St. Michael, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The issues affecting persons with disabilities will take centre stage on Wednesday, March 16, during a virtual seminar, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Panelists for this event will include President of the Human Resource Association of Barbados, Brittany Brathwaite; Social Worker at the NDU, Stevenson Evelyn, and Education Officer (Special Needs), Dr. Janice Gibbs.

The public is invited to attend the various events and support persons with disabilities.
