Fifty-three Immigration Officers have received permanent appointments to the Public Service of Barbados.

Acting Director General of the Ministry of the Public Service, Penny Linton, said the Governor General, acting on the advice of the Protective Services Commission, appointed 53 officers to the bracketed post of Immigration Officer II/III, with effect from September 1, 2020.

Ms. Linton noted that 31 Environmental Health Assistants I/II had been recently appointed.   She stated that during 2020, a number of other appointments had been made throughout the Public Service.

She continued: “As a Ministry, we are committed to our stakeholders, and recognise the motivation and sense of engagement created when officers receive security of tenure.

“In this regard, the Ministry of the Public Service is continuing work on appointments in other sectors, including category scale posts, chief technical positions, and junior support roles, given their importance to the efficient functioning of the Public Service.” Ms. Linton said the People Resourcing and Compliance Directorate had commenced internal procedures for the filling of the above posts.  “We will shortly be issuing circulars for posts across the ‘C’ scale category,” she added.
