Barbadian youth will soon have another opportunity to increase their skills when the Youth Mainstreaming Programme offers courses in Bobcat Operations and Advance Nail Technology.

Classes in Bobcat Operations will start next Monday, January 19, while the Advance Nail Technology one will begin on Wednesday, January 28. They will both run for about four months at the Barbados Vocational Training Board’s Centre at Sayes Court, Christ Church.

To register, interested persons should contact Youth Projects Coordinator with the Youth Department, David Denny, at telephone number 430-2916.

The Youth Mainstreaming Programme was launched last year and it seeks to, among other things, empower young Barbadians to realise their full potential, by creating a group of highly trained individuals who are capable of working at home or abroad.

It promotes the building of social capital which involves the development of human resources necessary to function in a knowledge-based service economy, while instilling the appropriate family, community and societal values.

Some of the programmes being offered are: a Basic and an Advance Digital Media Film Project, Fish Vessel Operations, Boat Building, Cookery and community-based agricultural projects.
