The Community Development Department is continuing its outreach programme in several communities over the next three months.

Entitled “Community Impact”, the programme will involve some 30 courses being taught at Community/Resource Centres across the island.

At the Speightstown Community/Resource Centre in St. Peter, classes will be held in floral arrangement and skills training, while at Clapham in St. Michael, courses include natural hair and nail technology, and cake and pastry making.

In Weston, St. James, persons are encouraged to sign up for classes in aerobics, elements of fashion designing and women’s self-defense while at the Harold Nurse Centre in Friendship, St. Michael there will be food preparation and preservation.

A course in lingerie design and creation will also take place at the Valley Resource Centre in St. George and at Rockfield, St. Lucy, there will be a table tennis coaching clinic and homework classes.

Gall Hill, St. John will provide training in Steel Pan, while at the Parkinson Community/Resource Centre in St. Michael, there will be classes in aesthetics, which involves, training in waxing, pedicures, massages and manicures.

Sion Hill, St. James will have a sports development programme, while at the Sargeants Village Community/Resource Centre in Christ Church, leather craft will be taught. 

The Bonnetts Resource Centre, St. Michael, will cater to dancing and drama, cake icing, remedial classes, cake and pastry making, free-hand sewing and keep fit classes.

In addition, there will be a summer camp at The Valley Resource Centre in St. George, while Clapham, Weston and Harold Nurse will host camps for Easter. After school clubs will also be held at all centres.

Interested persons are asked to contact the Community Development Department, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael at 310-1700 or 310-1701, as soon as possible to sign up for these courses and for further information.
