Barbados will mark the International Day for Persons with Disabilities on Saturday, December 3, with a movie night hosted by the National Disabilities Unit (NDU) in association with the Media Resource Department.

The event will be held on the NDU’s grounds at ‘Maxwelton’, Lower Collymore Rock, St. Michael, from 6:30 p.m.

Movies to be shown are Sponge Bob Movie and Sponge on the Run, while the feature attraction will be Child of Deaf Adults (CODA).

The observance of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and to mobilise support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons affected.

It also seeks to increase awareness of the gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

The theme for the day is: Transformative Solutions for Inclusion Development: The Role of Innovation in Fuelling an Accessible and Equitable World.
