High quality audio, visual and printed material provided by the Media Resource Department (MRD) over the years, is currently on display at the Gordon Corbin Studio on Government Hill, St. Michael.
The exhibition, which forms part of the activities to mark Education Month, showcases indigenous materials, produced during the time when the MRD was known as the Audio Visual Aids Department.
It commenced yesterday and will continue until Friday, October 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily for the benefit of educators, students and the public in general.
Deputy Chief Media Resource Officer, Burkley Lowe, in giving the rationale for the exhibition said: ???It is an opportunity for all to become aware of the repository of information and resources available for teaching and learning purposes. It is also an opportunity to meet staff and present ideas with the prospects of collaborating to bring these ideas to fruition.???
Among the indigenous work on display are We 10 Heroes, a documentary which won the only silver in the NIFCA 2011 Awards Film/Video (non-professional).??A production that extends to about 84 minutes in length, We 10 Heroes was scripted by Media Resource Officer, Gale Gooding, and writer, George Brown.
It examines the lives and contribution of the island???s 10 National Heroes – The Right Excellent Errol Walton Barrow, Sir Garfield Sobers, Sarah Ann Gill, Charles Duncan O???Neal, Bussa, Sir Hugh Springer, Grantley Adams, Samuel Jackman Prescod, Sir Frank Walcott and Clement Payne.??Patrons may also view the interactive video game, The Intrusive Visitor, which examines hurricane preparedness.
The MRD, which falls under the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, is located at the Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road. Educators benefit significantly from the MRD???s library, which allows them to borrow materials such as DVDs, audio and video equipment, as well as access information from the website, www.mrd.gov.bb.
