The Ministry of Tourism and International Transport is seeking to encourage persons in the tourism sector to be prepared for any disaster.

As a result, the ministry will host a Multi-Hazard Symposium at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, tomorrow, Friday, March 8, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Director of the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and Co-Chair of the Technical Standing Committee on Coastal Hazards, Kerry Hinds, will deliver the welcome address.

She will be followed by Director of the Coastal Zone Management Unit and Co-Chair of the Technical Standing Committee on Coastal Hazards, Dr. Leo Brewster, who will present on coastal hazards and earthquakes.

Following his presentation, symposium participants will learn about Exercise Caribewave 2019 from consultant at DEM, Danielle Howell.

Stakeholders will also benefit from a session on Business Continuity Planning, hosted by Planning and Business Development Manager at the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, Andria Grosvenor.

The symposium is scheduled to conclude at 12:30 p.m.
