As Barbados joins the rest of the world in marking 2010 as the International Year of Biodiversity, the Barbados Museum and Historical Society (BMHS) has mounted an exhibition aimed at looking at native wildlife.
Entitled "2010: A Look at Biodiversity in Barbados", the exhibition runs until December 6,??2010 at the BMHS, the Garrison, St. Michael. It will be open Mondays to Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The exhibition is a rare opportunity to discover more about extinct and present day wildlife in Barbados, as well as species recently introduced to the island. Live crabs, snails and fish are among the animals on display.
A video presentation on the story of the hawksbill turtles will also be part of the display.
Admission to the museum is free for locals and all other CARICOM nationals.
